The DSD Mahikeng Service Point conducted the Capacity Building Workshop on Registration of Community Based Care Organizations, Compliance to Norms and Standards, PFMA, SLA and Organisational Constitution on the 4th & 5th June 2026, for the older persons clubs in Mahikeng Ngaka Modiri Molema Districts.

Different DSD presenters did their best in addressing guidelines for CBC organizations for older persons, the registrations in terms of the OP Act 13 of 2006 as amended, application forms and checklist plus the monitoring and evaluation monitoring tools. The attendants gained more knowledge as all questions and concerns raised by the older persons were addressed to the level of their understanding.

Most of the funded social clubs asked critical questions and posed their challenges. The presenters responded amicably as they were assured of support from the service point.

This type of engagement clearly shows that more older persons will have the opportunity to assist disadvantaged communities and establish functional, sustainable NPOs. The workshop was an eye-opener and very informative.

Following the presentation, the older persons had a chance to view beautiful handwork art exhibitions done by members of the clubs and purchased some of the items.
